Baby Wool Mattress Pads

This wool mattress pad is essentially a flat sheet made of 100% Virgin wool that lays inbetween the crib fitted sheet and the crib mattress.

Organic Lifestyle's mattress pad is made of 100% Virgin wool wool and will protect your mattress by absorbing any accidents your child may have.

• Wool is naturally water resistant, not waterproof. That is, water will bead on top of the mattress pad thus acting as a layer to protect the mattress (see tips from our customers below)
• Pure wool also regulates temperature (therefore will absorb moisture and prevent overheating)
• Wool is a natural flame retardant, so no need for fire retardant chemicals (and meets safety and regulatory standards)
• The wool moisture pad contains 4-6% lanolin, so there's no need to lanolize if you only use natural soaps to spot clean the moisture pad

How can a fabric be a moisture barrier?

• Good question! It’s the wool, plus the way it’s woven, that makes it naturally water repellent; tightly woven and then slightly felted. It lays flat on top of the mattress and is held in place by the fitted sheet without straps. This is a natural replacement for a vinyl plastic or synthetic mattress cover.

Tip from our customers: To protect the mattress from spills, use organic cotton mattress pad as first layer, organic wool moisture pad as second layer and then the mattress. The wool will cause any water from accidents to bead on top of it while protecting the mattress. The cotton mattress pad, closest to the baby/child and on top of the wool pad, will absorb the excess water. Together, they reduce the need for plastic mattress protectors and reduce exposure to petrochemical based products that can give off VOCs. You can machine wash the organic cotton pad and hand wash the wool pad as required.
