- 텐셀은 "폐쇄 루프 시스템"에서 생산되며, 목재 분해 과정에 사용되는 화학 물질과 용매의 99%가 최소한의 폐기물과 매우 낮은 배출량으로 회수되고 재활용됩니다. 이 과정은 EU로부터 환경 분야에서 유럽상을 받았습니다.

텐셀은 어떻게 제조되나요?

그렇다면 유칼립투스 원단은 무엇인가요? 실제로는 라이오셀(lyocell)이라는 정식 명칭이며, 기쁜 소식은 레이온의 친환경 버전으로, 99.6% 폐쇄 루프 시스템에서 더 온화한 용매로 처리됩니다. 텐셀 브랜드의 라이오셀은 모든 브랜드 중 가장 친환경적으로, 유로 포레스트 스튜어드십 협의회(Euro Forest Stewardship Council)에서 인증된 펄프로 만들어집니다. 따라서 유칼립투스의 원료 공급은 매우 신뢰할 수 있습니다. - Ecoholic

- 유칼립투스 펄프에서 텐셀 원단을 생산하기 위해 폐기물 99%를 폐기물 처리 프로세스를 통해 재활용하는 용매(아민 옥사이드)를 사용합니다.
- 그런 다음 염료 및 라미네이션 과정에서 용매 없이 수산 과산화수소로 처리합니다.
- OekoTex에서 테스트 및 승인 받았습니다.

방수

가스 방출

방수 처리용 폴리우레탄의 총량은 제품의 약 2%입니다. 폴리우레탄은 사실상 패드 안쪽에 얇은 층으로 사용되어 방수 기능을 하지만 패드를 검사할 때는 보이지 않습니다. 이 제품은 GOTS (Global Organic Textiles Standard)로 인증되지는 않았지만, GOTS는 액세서리에서 최대 5% 폴리우레탄을 허용합니다.

- 자체의 냄새가 없습니다.
- 내부에 케이스된 매트리스로부터 발생하는 가스 방출 냄새를 크게 감소시킬 수도 있습니다(하지만 완전히 방지하지는 못합니다).

세탁 방법

Unlike our other mattress cover, this odour free, bed bug resistant product will completely encase your entire mattress

This is a must if you want to ensure that any potential bed bugs and/or bedmites, stay inside the mattress and not on you.

Also, consider this mattress cover if you travel and don't want to bring back anything home. Bed bug infestations are typically resolved by getting rid of all your clothing, replacing your bedroom mattress, pillows ... so consider this bed bug mattress encasement like an insurance policy.

Zipper

The image shows the heavy duty zipper at the centre of the thickness of the mattress,

Other version has the zipper on the surface following the seam edge, allowing you to take off just the top part for washing. Super convenient!

In both versions, the zipper does go all around.

Pore size

 - is the diameter of the space or hole between the threads

This is important to ensure that any bed bugs / bedmites can't get through the mattress cover and infest you.

This mattress cover has a pore size of Zero - typically this would be a concern from air flow perspective but we've used a hydrophilic membrane to ensure breathability (= it won't be too hot to sleep)

(What's a hydrophilic membrane? Its the mechanism by which water molecules from human perspiration can move freely due to differences in humidity and surrounding environment)

Eco-friendly

This mattress encasement is made with 100% tencel

• TENCEL® feels much cooler when the temperature rises due to high moisture uptake = cool to the touch and soft on the skin.
• Compared to cotton, TENCEL® is said to absorb and release 50% more moisture = helps to alleviate skin irritation
• Tencel is produced on a "closed-loop system" - 99% of the chemicals and solvents used in the process to break down the wood pulp are recovered and recycled with minimal waste and very low emissions. The process received the European Award for the Environment from the EU
• With less moisture buildup, bacteria and bed mites are unable to thrive & grow.

How is Tencel manufactured?

• from eucalypus pulp, grown without chemicals nor pesticides

So what's eucalyptus fabric all about? Well, its proper name is lyocell, and, good news, it's definitely a greener version of rayon, processed with gentler solvents in a 99.6 per cent closed-loop system. The Tencel brand of lyocell is the greenest of all, made with Euro Forest Stewardship Council-certified pulp, so the eucalyptus sourced has a pretty sound rep - from Ecoholic

• To produce Tencel fabric from eucalypus pulp they use a solvent (amine oxide) that is 99% recycled via closed loop process
• Then use group hidroxyl with vapour air (ie., no solvent) in the dyeing & lamination process
• Has been tested and accepted by OekoTex

Waterproofing

• Waterproofing via polyurethane film with hydrophilic membrane on the back (If concerned about polyurethane, see Debra Lynn Dadd's response on whether polyurethane is safe)
• Won't make any "plastic" sound as you move around as you sleep
• Waterproofing all around (sides, bottom and surface)

Off-gassing

The total amount of polyurethane for waterproofing is about 2% of the product. The polyurethane is essentially an ultra- thin layer inside the pad, just enough to make it waterproof, although it is not visible when examining the pad. Although this product is not certified by GOTS (Global Organic Textiles Standard), GOTS does allow up to 5% polyurethane in accessories

= It doesn't have its own odour

It can also help to significantly reduce (but not prevent) offgassing odours from the mattress encased within it.

How effective is this encasement in protecting against mold and mildew?

While our mattress encasement has not specifically tested for mold resistance, the waterproof feature aims to prevent moisture accumulation, reducing the likelihood of mold and mildew development. 

It is important to note that we cannot guarantee mold prevention as the effectiveness will vary based on environmental factors and usage conditions. 

Depth

These are made to snugly fit the mattress depth you select.

You don't have to order a size larger than your mattress depth unless you want extra room.

Sizing

If inbetween our sizes: e.g., your mattress measures 24 cm deep, consider the 25 cm version instead. Any excess fabric can be tucked underneath - else, order the custom size if you prefer  

Care Instructions

• Machine washable - Wash in warm water on delicate cycle. For drying, use  'air' dryer setting or hang to dry.
• Thinner that typical mattress and pillow covers on the market, Tencel needs less water and dries in just a few minutes to allow you a substantial energy savings
