WHY DUST MITE ENCASEMENT MATTRESS COVERS?

• Recent research has found that dust mites are one of the most common causes of asthma and allergies in the bedroom

Many dust mite encasements exist on the market but if you have concerns about plastic offgassing and/or prefer something organic that'll ensure dust mites stay far away, this is the hypoallergenic dust mite mattress encasement for you.

WHY USE PLASTIC IN OTHER DUST MITE COVERS?

Typically plastic is used to provide waterproofing - it can help contain off-gassing, act as a barrier against bed mites, bed bugs, dust mites and other creepy crawlies we don't want to think about as we sleep.

THE ISSUE

The plastic used in conventional hypoallergenic mattress encasement covers aren't necessarily high quality and can be the source of off gassing themselves, which isn't ideal if you'd rather not inhale volative organic compounds as you sleep.

THE SOLUTION

We sourced an organic cotton-based dust mite mattress encasement cover with NO plastic:

• Uses tightly woven GOTS certified 100% organic cotton only
• Compared to others, we use the heavier 280 thread count (as it's a very dense fabric that will stand up to years of wear)
• The nylon zipper on the mattress encasement starts halfway up on one side, along the bottom, and then up halfway on the other side
• At no point will you sleep on the zippers itself as the zipper is along the sides of the mattress (see main image)
• Dust mites measure between 100 to 300 microns and their feces can be as small as 10 microns, which could break through many fabrics
• Our 100% organic cotton barrier fabric was lab tested by Porous Materials, Inc. in New York, USA and shown to have an average pore size of 3.8 microns i.e. dust mite feces are too big and cannot pass through the tightly woven organic cotton fabric

DOES IT FEEL LIKE SLEEPING ON A PIECE OF CARDBOARD?

• No. It's slightly firmer than a sheet, absolutely not like cardboard!
• You'll put your own sheet on top of it and barely notice it over time

WHAT ABOUT BED BUGS?

It's pretty effective against bed bugs. These mattress encasements have a cover over the end of the zipper, but the zipper would be the only vulnerable part.

DIMENSIONS

Pick the depth based on the depth of your mattress - the encasement is made slightly bigger to account for fabric shrinkage

Care Instructions

• Machine washable 
• The fabric shrinks a little but we have built that into our measurements so not necessary to purchase next size
• We recommend pre-washing our covers in hot water and drying on warm for the best fit on your mattress
