Ontario based organic mattress testing retail locations

Since we don't have our own space for you to try out the mattress, we're working with select companies that we feel offer quality products and great customer service.
Toronto, Ontario - Dormio Organic Mattress for Natural Rubber mattress
In Toronto, we approached Dormio since they have a great selection and 4 locations - Toronto, Mississauga, Kitchener, Vaughan
Dormio offers different types of Rubber and Innerspring Mattresses, majority carrying their brand made by 2 different Canadian based factories (one is Sleeptek / Obasan and the other one is out of British Columbia)

When you walk into their showroom, you'll likely feel overwhelmed given the selection.

When I visited, they asked me a single question in order to suss out what type of mattress I liked. Their staff was pretty knowledgeable and steered me to my ideal mattress within 3 attempts.

However, you will feel tempted to try other mattresses - go for it!

Dormio's mattresses will differ on the type of support (from very firm to very soft) and thickness of the mattress (6 inches and up). Different type of finishes will all contribute to the price point.

One suggestion is to try the mattresses where one side has a different firmness level than the other. For instance, you prefer a softer feel versus your partner's preference for something more firm. As a couple, neither one has to compromise on the type of mattress anymore!

If you decide to proceed, don't forget to mention Organic Lifestyle to get your discount! (it's in their system I promise, just ask the salesperson to look it up)

PS - Any Organic Lifestyle specific promotions cannot be applied to your Dormio mattress purchase.

Naturepedic (Toronto) for Innerspring Adult mattresses
Naturepedic's only location in Toronto.

Innerspring mattresses are known to be firm.

Not that one mattress is better than the other - 50% of our customers have a preference for the firm support of an innerspring mattress and the other 50% prefers a medium firm support of the natural rubber mattress.

Of course, if you need something to soften the mattress up a little, consider buying an innerspring with pillowtop or topper made up of wool or natural rubber.

You can try out all these options and get answers to any questions when you visit Goran at Naturepedic Toronto location

Obasan (Ottawa) for Kids, Adults Innerspring, and Rubber mattresses
We used to private label Sleeptek's products out of our retail store.

But since we don't have a physical location anymore, we're unable to resell their well constructed and affordable organic mattresses.

If in Ottawa or willing to travel to the capital, I highly recommend you visit Sleeptek's Ottawa showroom featuring their retail brand, Obasan.

Introducing Sara Bonham

Meet Toronto based, Sara Bonham

Armed with her Masters in Chemistry, her day job for years was to analyze material goods & packaging for industry and to find eco-friendly options - eg., making plastic packaging more biodegrable and/or quicker to compost.

However, working in a lab constantly exposed to chemicals took its toll on her despite protective gear:

Even with a respirator on, lab coat, high end safety gloves and goggles, my skin would break out in rashes and go all red around my neck. It was both embarrassing and scary for me. As amazing as the job was, my body just couldn't hack it.

Thus, she started paying more and more attention to living a chemical free lifestyle.

A few years later, she started looking at combining 2 of her passions - chemical free / detox with her favourite past time, Tea - aka 'teatox'

For instance, Sara developed Varicose Vein tea because:

I found that after long hours travelling abroad and sitting at work, it seemed as though my legs were getting stiff and more prone to veins. A lady in my office developed a blood clot from too much sitting and that was the final straw - thus, Vein Vanish tea was born out of necessity.

The nice thing I like about her tea is that as a food scientist, Sara understands the chemistry of each ingredient that goes into each of her teas.

As an advocate for organic lifestyle, her detox tea has no artificial dyes, flavours and additives that you see in a lot of the tea's on the market today.

I invite you to join me and try Sara's tea

Recycle your electronic waste in Toronto

In her book Ecoholic, Adria Vasil reports that Canadians dump more than 272,000 tons of e-waste each year, and that consumer electronics contribute 40 percent of all the lead found in landfills. Those cell phones, TVs, VCRs, monitors, computers and other pieces of equipment just aren't ordinary garbage. They contain toxins such as lead, mercury, arsenic, cadmium and beryllium that pollute soil and water. Even worse is the toxic trade, which is happening on a global scale and has sprung up to cope with escalating volumes of the stuff. Thousands of tons of e-waste gets shipped abroad, most of it illegally, to countries such as China, Nigeria, India and Pakistan, where it piles up, poisoning the residents and the environment. So before you take your timed-out electronics to the curb, get to know the options for e-waste recycling.

Excepted from article on greenlivingonline.com

Our retail partner Ecoexistence is a drop off location for common electronics that will be recycled by Toronto based Inorganic Market. They recycle e-waste instead of disposing to landfill.

The following items are accepted for collection at Ecoexistence:
